Thread Veins
What are thread veins?
Thread veins are thin reddish/purple veins, just under the surface of the skin, which can spoil the appearance of your legs. They are not usually painful but people who have them may feel disinclined to expose their legs by wearing short skirts or swimsuits. The cause of these unattractive veins is not known. There can be a link with underlying poor circulation or with varicose veins. There is often a family history. Thread veins can be successfully treated.
Assessment
Possible causes will be assessed at initial consultation. In most cases, treatment can commence immediately. A series of three to four appointments is usually required. If varicose veins are present, referral to a vascular surgeon can be arranged.
